Jhpiego is recruiting a Service / Quality Improvement Officer to support the implementation of an integrated health programme aimed at improving maternal, newborn, and child health services across Nigeria.
This position is suited to experienced healthcare professionals who have worked in maternal and child health, nutrition, immunisation, malaria control, and health systems strengthening. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor healthcare providers, and help improve the quality of healthcare services delivered through primary and secondary health facilities.
The role forms part of a United States Government-funded project focused on strengthening integrated primary healthcare and reducing maternal and child morbidity and mortality.

Role Overview
The Service / Quality Improvement Officer will provide technical support for improving healthcare quality across primary and secondary health facilities.
Working closely with government institutions and programme partners, the successful candidate will help strengthen service delivery in maternal, newborn and child health, nutrition, immunisation, malaria prevention, and emergency obstetric and newborn care.
The role also includes mentoring healthcare workers, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and strengthening referral systems.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Quality Improvement
The successful candidate will:
- Provide technical guidance on integrated maternal, newborn, and child health services.
- Support improvements in nutrition, immunisation, and malaria service delivery.
- Promote evidence-based quality improvement practices across supported health facilities.
- Strengthen emergency obstetric and newborn care services.
Capacity Building and Clinical Mentorship
Responsibilities include:
- Organising healthcare provider training programmes.
- Delivering Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions.
- Providing supportive supervision and clinical mentoring.
- Building local healthcare workforce capacity using quality improvement approaches.
- Supporting continuous professional development for health workers.
Health Systems Strengthening
The Service / Quality Improvement Officer will:
- Support referral systems between healthcare facilities.
- Develop strategies to increase skilled birth attendance.
- Work with State Ministries of Health, State Primary Health Care Development Agencies, and Local Government Authorities.
- Promote adoption of national quality improvement standards.
