UNICEF – United Nations Children’s Fund is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee high-impact health infrastructure initiatives within its Nigeria Country Office in Abuja.

This is a 364-day temporary appointment designed for a professional who can confidently manage complex, multi-site health projects while ensuring quality delivery, accountability, and timely execution.

About the Role

In this position, you will coordinate the planning and execution of major health infrastructure projects, including:

  • Construction and operational setup of vaccine hubs in Abuja and Kano
  • Management of solarization contracts across more than 370 health facilities
  • Oversight of warehouse and logistics infrastructure performance
  • Support for operational readiness of health hubs, including Lagos
  • Ensuring all projects are delivered within scope, time, and budget

What You Will Be Responsible For

Your work will focus on five key areas:

  1. Project Planning and Development
    Supporting structured planning processes and ensuring project alignment with national and organizational health priorities.
  2. Delivery and Performance Monitoring
    Tracking implementation progress, identifying risks early, and ensuring results are delivered efficiently.
  3. Technical and Operational Coordination
    Providing hands-on guidance during project execution and ensuring smooth coordination across contractors and partners.
  4. Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
    Building strong working relationships with government agencies, implementing partners, and technical teams.
  5. Learning and Innovation
    Contributing to knowledge sharing, improving systems, and strengthening internal capacity.

Who This Role Is Looking For

Education

An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in one of the following fields is required:

  • Public Health
  • Health Systems Management
  • Construction or Project Management
  • Finance, Administration, or related disciplines
  • International Relations or similar fields

Experience

  • At least 5 years of professional experience managing health-related or large-scale development projects
  • Experience in complex or multi-stakeholder environments is highly valued
  • Familiarity with immunization or health systems strengthening programs is an advantage
