Role Overview
The Drill Pipe Inspection / BHA Technician will perform inspections on drilling equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards and operational requirements. The role involves carrying out non-destructive testing procedures, preparing technical reports, and supporting inspection activities both onshore and offshore.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Inspect drill pipes, drill collars, heavyweight drill pipe (HWDP), stabilizers, subs, and other BHA components.
- Perform electromagnetic inspection (EMI), magnetic particle inspection (MPI), ultrasonic testing (UT), dimensional inspections, and thread inspections.
- Conduct inspections in accordance with API and DS-1 industry standards.
- Prepare accurate inspection reports and maintain technical documentation.
- Support inspection operations across onshore and offshore locations.
- Work on rotational schedules when required.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- OND, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in drill pipe or BHA inspection within the oil and gas industry.
- Practical knowledge of inspection procedures and oilfield equipment.
Preferred Certifications
The following certifications will be considered an advantage:
- ASNT Level II certification in MPI, UT, ET, or VT.
- Valid BOSIET certificate.
- Valid HUET certificate.
- Current Offshore Medical certificate.

- Strong understanding of drill pipe and BHA inspection standards.
