HSE Officer 1

Job Overview

The HSE Officer 1 will be responsible for implementing and monitoring health, safety and environmental policies to support compliance with statutory regulations and company standards. The role involves conducting risk assessments, enforcing safe work practices, training employees on HSE procedures and promoting a proactive safety culture.

The officer will also investigate incidents, prepare reports, recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and support continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly and monthly HSE performance reports.
• Maintain accurate HSE records and documentation.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans.
• Coordinate fire drills and evacuation exercises.
• Monitor waste disposal and environmental compliance.
• Support sustainability initiatives.
• Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and risk assessments for all operations.
• Identify unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety drills and refresher training sessions.
• Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe acts.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and root cause analyses.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Three to five years of experience.

Professional Certifications and Membership

• NEBOSH IGC.
• ISPON Certification.
• OSHA Training.
• ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification.
• IOSH Managing Safely.
• Membership of a recognized HSE professional body, such as ISPON.
