Position Overview

The Principal, Compliance, Wealth & Retail Banking will support the Compliance, Financial Crime, and Conduct Risk (CFCR) Advisory function by providing regulatory guidance, overseeing compliance frameworks, identifying financial crime risks, and helping ensure the bank operates in accordance with Nigerian regulations and internal policies.

The role also involves working with business leaders, regulators, and internal stakeholders to strengthen governance, risk management, and customer protection across Wealth & Retail Banking.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Support the implementation of compliance and financial crime risk frameworks.
  • Provide regulatory guidance to Wealth & Retail Banking teams.
  • Monitor compliance with Nigerian banking regulations and internal policies.
  • Identify, assess, and escalate compliance and conduct risks.
  • Support Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) activities.
  • Participate in regulatory reviews, audits, and governance reporting.
  • Collaborate with regulators and internal stakeholders on compliance matters.
  • Conduct compliance monitoring and risk assessments.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • A degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or other recognised compliance qualifications.
  • Strong experience in banking compliance, governance, regulatory oversight, or financial crime risk management.
  • Good knowledge of Nigerian banking regulations and regulatory expectations.
  • Experience working with AML, KYC, CDD, and financial crime compliance programmes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting regulatory inspections, audits, and remediation activities.
