Senior General Manager Production

Job Overview

The Senior General Manager Production will lead production activities for clinker and cement at the plant. The role is responsible for coordinating production operations, maintaining optimal plant capacity, supporting revenue generation and ensuring that established quality, budget and production targets are achieved.

The position also contributes to production strategy, capacity planning, materials requirements planning, annual budgeting and continuous improvement across cement manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development and articulation of a production strategy for Dangote Cement Plc.
• Create and manage the plant’s production, capacity and materials requirement plan in line with Dangote Cement Plc’s strategic intent.
• Oversee implementation of the approved production plan to ensure that established targets are met.
• Ensure that production processes are implemented in line with agreed procedures and guidelines.
• Communicate the unit’s strategic direction and objectives to all staff and demonstrate ownership of them.
• Prepare annual production budgets based on relevant considerations, including market forces, and support achievement of planned budgets through resource optimisation.
• Coordinate and manage the production team to achieve daily production targets within the specified quality level, budget and time.
• Liaise with Maintenance to coordinate planned shutdowns of production lines for maintenance purposes.
• Oversee the execution of cement kiln lining repairs, raw mill and cement mill operations, and the cement packaging system.
• Keep abreast of new developments and good practices in cement production and make recommendations for improvement to the Deputy Plant Director (Operations & Maintenance).
• Supervise implementation of approved recommendations.
• Provide overall guidance, leadership and strategic direction to the Production team.
• Prepare and provide production reports and information to leadership to support decision-making.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Plant Director.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 25 years of relevant work experience, including 10 years in a management position.
