Role Overview
The Specialist – Business Continuity Management will support the implementation and continuous improvement of MTN Nigeria’s Business Continuity Management (BCM) programme.
The role involves coordinating continuity planning activities, assessing operational risks, supporting recovery exercises, maintaining BCM documentation, and working with different business teams to strengthen the company’s ability to maintain essential services.
The successful candidate will help ensure that business processes, technology systems, suppliers, and operational locations have appropriate continuity measures in place.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Supporting the delivery of MTN Nigeria’s Business Continuity Management programme.
- Coordinating business continuity risk assessments across important business processes, services, technology areas, suppliers, and operational locations.
- Developing and maintaining continuity and recovery plans in line with company standards and regulatory expectations.
- Organizing BCM training sessions and awareness programmes for employees and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintaining BCM training materials and identifying areas where additional learning support is required.
- Planning and coordinating business continuity exercises, simulations, and recovery tests.
- Developing test scenarios, facilitating exercises, documenting results, and tracking improvement actions.
- Reviewing lessons learned from BCM exercises and ensuring recovery plans are updated accordingly.
- Managing BCM documentation, databases, tools, records, and controlled access to sensitive information.
- Preparing BCM reports, dashboards, and management review documents.
- Supporting governance reporting requirements, including inputs for audit and leadership reviews.
- Following up on BCM activities across different business units and escalating challenges when necessary.
- Providing guidance and knowledge sharing to BCM champions, recovery teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Working with operational risk teams to align risk assessments, incident reviews, and resilience reporting.
- Ensuring business continuity risks are properly captured and monitored.
- Supporting enterprise resilience initiatives while maintaining BCM-specific requirements such as Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), and recovery strategies.
- Monitoring changes in regulations, cyber risks, security threats, and international business continuity standards.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should have the following qualifications and experience:
Education and Professional Certifications
- A first degree in a business-related or technology-related discipline.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Professional certifications such as CBCI, AMBCI, or ISO 22301 Lead Implementer certification will be an advantage.
Work Experience
Candidates should have:
- 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in business continuity management, operational resilience, operational risk, crisis management, or related fields.
- Experience coordinating activities involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Previous experience working within medium to large organizations.
- Practical knowledge of business continuity processes, disaster recovery planning, recovery strategies, and incident response coordination.
- Understanding of telecoms operations will be an added advantage.
