Job Overview

Moniepoint is seeking a Team Lead, Site Reliability Engineering to guide a squad of site reliability engineers responsible for the reliability of its highly distributed financial platform. The successful candidate will design high-level reliability architecture, define the technical roadmap, mentor engineers and help build a strong Site Reliability Engineering culture.

The role combines strategic leadership with deep technical work. It includes improving system reliability and visibility, supporting scalable systems and ensuring that both the platform and the engineering team can scale effectively.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for the SRE team.
• Architect self-healing systems, define reliability standards including Production Readiness Reviews, and drive the adoption of observability as Code and automation best practices.
• Define and enforce the end-to-end standard for system visibility.
• Guide teams in deeply instrumenting their code through logging, tracing and metrics.
• Govern the monitoring ecosystem to ensure alerts are actionable, minimize alert fatigue and maximize the ability to detect and resolve issues proactively.
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of Senior and Associate SREs.
• Conduct code reviews, facilitate technical workshops and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
• Act as the ultimate escalation point for major incidents.
• Refine the incident management process to ensure it is efficient and that root-cause analyses lead to actionable engineering fixes.
• Partner with Engineering Managers and Product Leads to define Service Level Objectives that align with business goals.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in Java, Go, Rust or Python.
• Mastery of distributed systems patterns, including the ability to design scalable architectures, debug complex microservices interactions and explain architectural trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Deep expertise with Google Cloud Platform or AWS, including extensive experience running Kubernetes at scale and troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues.
• Proven experience defining observability strategies for large teams, including architecting the complete telemetry stack from custom instrumentation to monitoring and actionable alerting.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to de-escalate high-pressure war rooms with calm authority.
