Key Responsibilities
Transaction origination and execution
- Originate and execute financial advisory mandates involving the public sector and other strategic industries.
- Lead the successful delivery of complex and high-value transactions.
- Oversee mergers and acquisitions, capital-raising assignments, project-finance transactions, privatizations and restructuring engagements.
- Guide transaction structuring and ensure each mandate receives the required strategic and technical oversight.
- Apply financial modelling, valuation, equity analysis and corporate-finance expertise throughout transaction execution.
Business development
- Lead initiatives intended to expand the firm’s financial advisory portfolio.
- Identify and pursue opportunities that could increase advisory revenue and market presence.
- Develop financial advisory mandates through relationships with public-sector institutions, corporate organizations, investors and other stakeholders.
- Use knowledge of the public and corporate sectors to support transaction origination and business development.
- Maintain an active understanding of client priorities and relevant commercial opportunities.
Client and stakeholder management
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies.
- Manage relationships with corporate clients, investors and other key stakeholders.
- Provide senior-level guidance throughout advisory assignments.
- Apply negotiation, presentation and stakeholder-management skills when engaging clients and transaction partners.
- Maintain high-value client relationships while supporting the successful delivery of mandates.
Leadership and governance
- Provide strategic leadership across the financial advisory practice.
- Mentor and supervise members of transaction teams.
- Ensure transaction teams receive appropriate direction during mandate execution.
- Monitor work for compliance with relevant regulatory and governance requirements.
- Promote effective coordination among professionals involved in complex advisory transactions.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in financial advisory, investment banking, corporate finance or a related area.
- Significant experience leading complex financial transactions.
- A demonstrated record of originating and executing successful advisory mandates.
- Experience managing high-value client relationships.
- An established professional network within the public and corporate sectors.
An MBA or another relevant postgraduate qualification will be considered an advantage.
