Job Overview

The MEAL Manager will lead the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning systems across Action Against Hunger’s programmes in Yobe State.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strengthen Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Systems

The successful candidate will:

  • Implement and strengthen MEAL systems across all programmes.
  • Develop project-specific MEAL plans that meet donor and organizational requirements.
  • Support the design of surveys, assessments, evaluations, and data collection tools.
  • Lead development of monitoring frameworks and performance tracking systems.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits to assess project implementation.
  • Promote participatory approaches to monitoring and data collection.
  • Support the use of mobile data collection technologies and management information systems.
  • Collaborate with technical teams on mapping and information management activities.

2. Reporting and Data Management

Responsibilities include:

  • Review and validate monitoring and evaluation data.
  • Analyse programme data using statistical software such as Excel, SPSS, and other analytical tools.
  • Support preparation of donor reports and internal programme reports.
  • Ensure timely submission of monthly monitoring reports.
  • Improve reporting templates and information management systems.
  • Support proposal development by providing monitoring and evaluation inputs.

3. Capacity Building and Team Development

6. Learning and Knowledge Management

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate learning workshops and programme review meetings.
  • Document lessons learned and best practices.
  • Develop case studies and technical learning materials.
  • Track implementation of recommendations from evaluations.
  • Support programme teams in applying learning to future project design.

7. Representation and Coordination

The MEAL Manager will:

  • Represent Action Against Hunger at state-level technical meetings and coordination forums.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Willingness to travel frequently to remote project locations.
