Job Overview
The Technical Officer will collaborate with state-based Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) specialists to support the State Malaria Elimination Programme (SMEP) and State Ministry of Health (SMOH).
The role focuses on coordinating malaria prevention and treatment activities, supporting health worker training, strengthening malaria service delivery, improving maternal and child health interventions, and contributing to programme monitoring and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Support Malaria Programme Implementation
The successful candidate will:
- Work closely with state technical specialists to support implementation of malaria case management activities.
- Ensure programme activities comply with national malaria prevention, diagnosis, and treatment guidelines.
- Support achievement of project objectives and donor deliverables.
- Assist state and local government teams in planning programme activities.
Capacity Building and Technical Support
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate training programmes for healthcare workers.
- Support Integrated Monitoring and Supportive Supervision (iMSV) activities.
- Strengthen technical capacity of State Ministry of Health personnel.
- Provide technical guidance on malaria prevention and control strategies.
Support Public Health Interventions
The Technical Officer will:
- Support implementation of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) campaigns for children under five years.
- Assist with improving Intermittent Preventive Treatment in Pregnancy (IPTp).
- Support routine distribution of Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) to pregnant women and young children.
- Promote quality malaria prevention and treatment services across supported health facilities.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation

- Preparing technical activity reports for programme leadership.
- Documenting programme achievements, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Supporting quarterly learning and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Preparing service delivery reports and technical documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement

- Represent MSH in state-level Malaria Technical Working Groups (TWGs).
- Participate in health coordination meetings with government and development partners.
- Maintain effective collaboration with State Ministries of Health, Local Government Authorities, and implementing partners.
- Support coordination of malaria programme activities at the state level.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- An MBBS or MD degree.
- Field experience in malaria prevention, diagnosis, or treatment.
- Specialized experience in malaria programming is highly desirable.
- At least five years of relevant post-NYSC experience in public health.
- Experience in community-based health programmes.
- Experience providing technical assistance to government or partner organizations.
