Job Overview

The Health Field Officer 2 will work under the supervision of the Damaturu Health Team Leader to implement health and nutrition programmes across the assigned area of responsibility. Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Monitor health and nutrition services within ICRC-supported hospitals and primary healthcare centres.
  • Serve as the focal point for Stabilization Centre (SC) activities and supervise Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) case management.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international nutrition treatment protocols.
  • Mentor and provide on-the-job training to hospital staff.
  • Monitor admissions, recovery rates, mortality rates, and other programme performance indicators.
  • Support forecasting, procurement, and management of therapeutic foods, medicines, and medical supplies.
  • Supervise Outpatient Therapeutic Programme (OTP) and Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme (TSFP) activities.
  • Strengthen maternal, newborn, child health, immunization, family planning, and preventive healthcare services.
  • Collaborate with Economic Security teams to implement community-based nutrition interventions.
  • Monitor nutrition commodity management, storage, and reporting systems.
  • Support active case finding, referrals, and follow-up for malnutrition cases.
  • Organize training sessions, supportive supervision, and capacity-building activities for healthcare workers.
  • Monitor disease outbreaks and contribute to emergency preparedness and response for cholera, measles, meningitis, diphtheria, and other public health emergencies.
  • Strengthen coordination with the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), government agencies, and humanitarian organizations.
  • Support health facilities in preparing routine health and nutrition reports.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • A university degree in Medicine, Nursing, or Midwifery.
  • A valid professional license to practice.
  • A postgraduate degree or diploma in Public Health or Health Management is an added advantage.
  • At least three years of relevant professional experience, particularly in emergency or humanitarian settings.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
