About the Organization
Established in 2017, FairMoney is a mobile banking institution focused on extending credit to emerging markets. The company operates primarily within Nigeria and has secured nearly €50 million in funding from global investors including Tiger Global, DST, and Flourish Ventures.
FairMoney is building a mobile banking platform and point-of-sale solution for emerging markets. Its services include a digital microcredit application for Android and iOS, current accounts, savings accounts, debit cards, and point-of-sale solutions for merchants and agents. The company has a workforce representing more than 27 nationalities.
Responsibilities
- Own pre-release regression and validation for iOS and Android and make the release readiness call.
- Build and maintain the mobile automation suite and run it in CI against every release candidate.
- Decide which tests should be automated and which should remain manual, while keeping the suite reliable and trusted.
- Design end-to-end coverage across core user journeys.
- Carry out exploratory testing on high-risk changes, including interrupted flows, dropped connections during transactions, and unusual account states.
- Test on real devices, including low-end Android devices and poor network conditions.
- Use AI to generate test cases from specifications, draft automation with coding agents, triage crashes, cluster support tickets at volume, and summarize logs during exploratory sessions.
- Audit AI-generated adversarial tests.
- Verify fixes and confirm that nothing new has broken.
Requirements and Qualifications
- At least 5 years of mobile QA experience, with iOS and Android as the primary discipline.
- Strong experience building and maintaining automation suites using Maestro, Appium, Espresso, or XCUITest.
- Maintainable coding experience in Kotlin, Swift, Python, or TypeScript.
- CI/CD experience and the ability to keep a test suite stable.
- Sound judgement about what to automate and how to avoid a slow, flaky suite that people do not trust.
- Hands-on experience using AI tooling in testing work, with the judgement to distinguish useful results from confident but inaccurate output.
- Experience testing low-end Android devices and poor networks.
- Ability to diagnose issues before escalating, using tools such as adb/logcat, the Xcode console, Charles, or Proxyman.
- API-level testing experience.
- Ability to write exceptional bug reports with the details engineers need.
- Strong exploratory testing instincts and the ability to explain the reasoning behind investigation areas.
- Background in fintech, payments, or lending.
- Clear written communication.
The role also calls for sound judgement under pressure, ownership, influence without authority, curiosity, persistence, user curiosity, and comfort with ambiguity. The successful candidate is expected to hold a release decision when risks are present, approach product testing with an adversarial mindset while working constructively with engineers, identify and close gaps without waiting for assigned tickets, use evidence and relationships to influence other teams, investigate intermittent issues, read support tickets and app store reviews, and continue exploring beyond the checklist.
