Role Overview

The Engineer – RF Optimization will manage radio network optimization activities within the assigned region to support subscriber growth and maintain strong Quality of Service (QoS).

The position involves monitoring network performance, identifying technical issues, improving radio coverage and capacity, and working with vendors to implement solutions that improve customer connectivity.

The successful candidate will also support the integration of new technologies and ensure that network performance meets operational targets.

Key Responsibilities

The Engineer – RF Optimization will be responsible for:

• Managing radio network optimization activities across the Kano region.
• Working with planning and implementation teams to ensure adequate network capacity for future subscriber demand.
• Monitoring and improving Service Level Agreement (SLA) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Supporting the integration and performance improvement of multi-technology sites, including 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks.
• Maintaining detailed knowledge of Radio Access Network (RAN) coverage areas and site performance.
• Monitoring network performance trends and preparing technical reports.
• Benchmarking competitor network activities and analyzing market performance.
• Supporting resolution of customer network-related complaints with optimization vendors.
• Using specialized optimization tools to investigate and resolve network issues.
• Providing technical support to other departments on radio network-related matters.
• Supporting trials and deployment of new network features.
• Conducting physical and virtual drive tests to evaluate network coverage.
• Performing daily, weekly, and monthly network analysis and audits.
• Identifying network issues, coordinating corrective actions, and escalating unresolved matters.
• Monitoring traffic patterns, network utilization, and subscriber growth to support capacity planning.
• Reviewing and preparing cell data for site rehoming activities.
• Supervising radio network optimization activities performed by managed service vendors.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Education

• A first degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Good communication skills in English.

Professional Experience

Candidates should have:

• 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in telecommunications or RF optimization.
• Practical experience in RF optimization, network analysis, and technical solutions.
• Experience working with GSM, WCDMA, LTE, or wireless telecommunications networks.
• Experience managing or supporting multi-vendor network environments.
• Knowledge of Ericsson, Huawei, or ZTE equipment will be an advantage.
