About the Role

Strivo Labs is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Risk Manager to lead the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of risks across its fintech operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in protecting the company’s financial health, regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and reputation while supporting sustainable business growth.

The Risk Manager will work closely with Product, Credit, Compliance, Operations, Technology, Finance, and Executive Leadership teams to develop and maintain a robust enterprise risk management framework aligned with industry best practices and applicable regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Risk Management

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company’s risk management framework, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate operational, financial, strategic, technological, cyber, compliance, and reputational risks.
  • Maintain and regularly update the enterprise risk register and risk appetite framework.
  • Conduct periodic enterprise risk assessments.
  • Present risk assessment findings and recommendations to senior management.

Credit and Lending Risk

  • Evaluate and monitor credit risk exposures across lending and Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) portfolios.
  • Analyze portfolio performance, default trends, delinquency rates, and loss metrics.
  • Recommend risk-based strategies to improve portfolio quality and minimize losses.
  • Work with Credit, Collections, and Data teams to strengthen underwriting and risk-scoring methodologies.

Operational Risk

  • Establish and strengthen controls designed to minimize operational losses and process failures.
  • Investigate operational incidents and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
  • Ensure timely identification, escalation, and reporting of operational risks.

Fraud Risk Management

  • Develop and implement fraud prevention and detection strategies.
  • Monitor transaction patterns and emerging fraud risks.
  • Work with Technology and Security teams to strengthen fraud monitoring systems.
  • Lead investigations into suspected fraud cases and coordinate appropriate resolution.

Regulatory Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with Compliance teams during regulatory audits and examinations.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on business operations.
  • Support policy reviews, governance initiatives, and risk-control improvements.

Reporting and Stakeholder Management

  • Prepare risk reports, dashboards, and presentations for Executive Management and Board Committees.
  • Provide clear insights and recommendations regarding risk exposures and mitigation strategies.
  • Support strategic decision-making through risk analysis and scenario planning.
  • Communicate complex risk issues effectively to senior stakeholders.

Business Continuity and Resilience

  • Support the development, implementation, and testing of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs).
  • Support Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) development and testing.
  • Ensure operational resilience frameworks are maintained and regularly reviewed.
  • Identify potential business disruption risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.

Requirements

Education

Candidates should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is an added advantage.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in Risk Management, Credit Risk, Enterprise Risk, Audit, or Compliance.
  • Experience within a fintech, digital lending, banking, financial services, or payment services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing lending, BNPL, payment, or other digital financial products.
  • Strong understanding of fintech regulatory requirements and risk governance practices.

Technical Skills

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks.
  • Experience in credit risk assessment and portfolio analytics.
  • Understanding of fraud risk management and transaction monitoring.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar analytical tools.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards, AML/CFT controls, and data protection requirements.

Preferred Professional Certifications

Relevant professional certifications may include:

  • Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP)
  • Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
  • Professional Risk Manager (PRM)
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
  • Relevant compliance, risk, audit, or governance certifications.
