Head, Innovation Hubs

Moniepoint

Africa’s all-in-one financial platform

Job Overview

Moniepoint is building innovation hubs at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and Ahmadu Bello University (ABU). The hubs will be open to students from every faculty and will use a cohort-based, industry-connected model to develop technical talent for the job market.

The programmes will cover software engineering, artificial intelligence, product, data science, robotics, and design. They will provide applied technical training, access to working engineers, product leaders and founders, and potential pathways into Moniepoint, other technology companies, or ventures created by participating students.

This is a building role. The successful candidate will own the design of how all three hubs operate, including the teams, standards, partnerships, infrastructure, budgets, metrics and pathways that support their delivery.

Responsibilities

Programme Design

  • Design the operating model for all three hubs from the ground up.
  • Define cohort structures, learning sequences, job-market readiness at each level, and how graduates are assessed and certified.
  • Develop the programme model rather than adapting an existing playbook.

University Relationships

  • Own the primary relationships with the Vice-Chancellors, deans, faculty leads and student bodies at OAU, UNN and ABU.
  • Maintain strategic and sustained institutional engagement across the three universities.

Cross-Faculty Engagement

  • Design an engagement model that attracts students from engineering, sciences, humanities, business and design.
  • Build participation and retention across the full cohort experience.

Industry and Mentorship Pipeline

  • Build and manage a network of engineers, product leaders and founders from Moniepoint and beyond.
  • Develop the network that will mentor, assess and hire talent from the hubs.

Facilitators and Standards

  • Design the facilitator model and recruit the people responsible for teaching and assessment.
  • Own the standard expected of facilitators and maintain a common standard across all three hubs.
  • Design how the common standard is delivered locally at each site.

Infrastructure and Operations

  • Own the physical footprint of each hub, whether built from scratch or delivered within an existing campus structure.
  • Manage timelines, vendor relationships and hub-level budgets across three sites.
  • Define the staffing model for each hub and recruit the on-ground teams responsible for day-to-day operations.

Outcomes and Accountability

  • Set and own metrics covering graduate output, job placement, programme completion, cohort quality and employer satisfaction.

Pipeline Integration

  • Design the connection between hub graduates and Moniepoint Academy and other talent programmes.
  • Create clear next steps into Moniepoint’s internal pathways for the strongest talent.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of overall experience, including at least five years in leadership roles with end-to-end ownership of programmes, teams and budgets.
  • Experience building or leading a technical training or workforce development programme at scale, ideally across multiple sites.
  • Experience taking a programme from zero to one, including designing the model, hiring the team and maintaining its standards.
  • Experience managing senior institutional relationships across universities, government bodies and industry partners.
  • Ability to navigate Nigerian university administration, or comparable experience elsewhere that can be credibly applied in Nigeria.
  • Experience hiring and managing technical educators, with an understanding of how to assess teaching quality against a defined standard.
  • Understanding of effective engineering education and the capabilities employers in software, artificial intelligence, product and data science hire for.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to design a programme that produces hireable engineers; coding ability is not required.
  • A rigorous approach to outcomes and measurable programme performance.
  • Experience in edtech, developer education, university-industry partnerships or workforce development is a strong signal.
  • Experience building something from scratch and owning it through to measurable outcomes.

What Success Looks Like

  • Year 1: Establish the operating model, launch the first cohorts and support the placement of initial graduates.
  • Year 2: Build recognised cross-disciplinary technical training hubs across partner universities.
  • Year 3: Develop a measurable graduate talent pipeline and a documented model that can be expanded to additional institutions.

Compensation and Work Conditions

  • Firmwide performance bonus.
  • Company-covered health insurance plans.
  • Pension plans.
  • A dynamic, diverse and collaborative environment where every team member’s voice is recognised and valued.

  • Continuous learning and career growth opportunities.
