Dangote Cement Plc is seeking an experienced HEMM Maintenance Engineer to support the safe operation, repair, and preventive maintenance of heavy earthmoving machinery at its Obajana Plant in Kogi State, Nigeria.

This role is suited for a mechanical engineering professional with hands-on experience in heavy mobile equipment maintenance, engine overhauling, fault diagnosis, and maintenance planning. Role Summary

The HEMM Maintenance Engineer will oversee maintenance activities for heavy mobile mining equipment, ensuring machinery remains safe, reliable, and available for daily operations.

The role involves planning preventive maintenance activities, supervising technical teams, managing engine repairs and overhauls, and supporting continuous improvement in equipment performance.

The engineer will work with different equipment brands, including CAT, Komatsu, Doosan, Liebherr, Terex, and other heavy machinery models.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Planning preventive maintenance activities and coordinating maintenance teams.
  • Monitoring completed maintenance tasks and preparing performance reports for management.
  • Supervising engine overhaul technicians and maintenance supervisors.
  • Carrying out and supporting major engine overhauls for excavators, loaders, dozers, rock breakers, and dump trucks.
  • Diagnosing engine faults and implementing effective repair solutions.
  • Managing the overhaul and repair of multiple heavy equipment engines.
  • Rebuilding major engine components according to technical standards.
  • Removing, dismantling, repairing, and reinstalling engines and related components.
  • Conducting performance tests and making required adjustments after repairs.
  • Identifying equipment failures and resolving operational issues.
  • Preparing spare parts requirements for planned maintenance activities.
  • Forecasting future spare parts needs to support maintenance planning.
  • Sharing technical knowledge with technicians and supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in heavy equipment maintenance planning and execution.
  • Practical experience with engine overhauling and repair of equipment from manufacturers such as Komatsu, CAT, Doosan, Cummins, Scania, Detroit, and Liebherr.
  • Experience with spare parts planning related to heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of SAP PM systems, including:
    • Master data creation
    • Preventive maintenance strategies
    • Functional locations
    • Task lists
    • Maintenance plans

Required Skills and Competencies

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to analyze technical problems and develop practical solutions.
