The position covers quality systems, laboratory activities, raw materials, factory hygiene, regulatory compliance, supplier quality, and continuous improvement.
What the Head of Quality Assurance & Control Will Do

- Maintain and improve HACCP, GMP, sanitation, and hygiene programmes.
- Lead internal quality audits and coordinate external regulatory inspections.
- Ensure products consistently meet internal specifications and regulatory standards.
- Monitor changes in food safety legislation and introduce necessary improvements.
The successful candidate will also be expected to help maintain a strong culture of food safety and ensure that quality requirements are understood and followed across the manufacturing operation.

- Working with management and relevant teams to implement corrective actions.
- Monitoring supplier quality performance and recommending improvements.
- Ensuring that only approved materials are used in production.
Oversee Laboratory and Production Quality

This includes:
- Supervising laboratory testing of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Ensuring laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
- Reviewing laboratory results and recommending corrective action when required.

- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor quality trends and identify recurring issues.
- Recommend improvements to products, production processes, and quality systems.
- Lead initiatives aimed at reducing waste, improving efficiency, and maintaining consistent product quality.
The position requires a preventive approach to quality management, with an emphasis on identifying and addressing the causes of problems rather than simply reacting to defects after they occur.
Team Leadership and Staff Development
The Head of Quality Assurance & Control will lead and develop the Quality team while helping build a company-wide culture that values food safety and accountability.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading, mentoring, and developing Quality team members.
- Promoting quality, food safety, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
- Providing quality and food safety training to employees.

- Successful implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
These indicators are intended to help the organisation measure the effectiveness of its quality systems and identify areas that require further attention.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in quality assurance and quality control within a food manufacturing environment.

- Familiarity with ISO 22000 or other internationally recognised food safety standards.
- Experience in supplier quality management.
- Experience managing raw material quality assurance.

This position is best suited to an experienced quality professional who has spent a significant part of their career in food manufacturing.
A strong candidate will likely have hands-on experience with quality management systems, HACCP, GMP, laboratory operations, regulatory inspections, and food safety compliance. Leadership experience is equally important because the role involves managing the Quality team and influencing quality practices across multiple departments.
Candidates should also be able to demonstrate how they have used quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, control waste, improve consistency, or strengthen food safety practices.
