Ayoola Foods Limited is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant / Internal Auditor to oversee core accounting activities while helping strengthen financial controls and reporting across its food manufacturing operations.
This is a hands-on finance role for someone who understands that accounting in a manufacturing business involves more than preparing reports. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with teams such as Production, Warehouse, Sales & Marketing, and Administration to ensure that financial records accurately reflect day-to-day operations.
The role will also involve monitoring cash flow, managing working capital, reviewing inventory records, supporting statutory compliance, and providing management with financial information that can guide practical business decisions. What the Role Involves
Financial reporting and accounting
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining reliable financial records and ensuring that reporting is completed accurately and on schedule. Key duties include:
- Maintaining complete and accurate accounting records in line with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Preparing monthly management accounts and other financial reports within agreed deadlines.
- Producing weekly financial summaries and cash flow reports for management review.

- Preparing annual financial statements and supporting schedules for year-end audits.
Cash flow and working capital
The position will play an important role in helping the business maintain healthy cash flow and manage its working capital effectively. Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring daily cash flow and preparing regular cash flow forecasts.
- Managing accounts receivable and following up on outstanding customer balances.
- Overseeing supplier payments and accounts payable activities.
- Reviewing customer credit positions and recommending appropriate actions when necessary.
- Supporting management initiatives aimed at improving working capital performance.
Inventory and manufacturing cost control
Because the position is based within a manufacturing environment, strong inventory and cost-control skills are particularly important. The role will involve:
- Working with relevant teams to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Overseeing stock reconciliations and investigating inventory variances.
- Supporting product costing and manufacturing cost analysis.
- Participating in periodic physical stock counts and inventory verification exercises.
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen inventory controls and improve stock management processes.
Statutory compliance and audit support
The successful candidate will help ensure that the company’s financial and statutory obligations are handled accurately and on time. This includes:
- Preparing and supporting the timely filing of VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Pension, NSITF, NHF, and other applicable statutory obligations.
- Liaising with external auditors, tax consultants, and relevant regulatory authorities.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable Nigerian financial reporting and tax requirements.
- Maintaining proper financial documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.
Internal controls and process improvement
A key part of the position will be identifying financial risks and improving the systems used to manage them. The successful candidate will:
- Review financial processes and internal controls to identify weaknesses and potential risks.
- Recommend and implement practical improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist in developing finance policies and standard operating procedures.

Finance plays a central role in understanding how a manufacturing business performs. The person in this role will work with Sales & Marketing, Production, Warehouse, Administration, and Management to:
- Provide financial analysis for operational and commercial decisions.
- Help teams improve cost control, inventory accuracy, and profitability.
- Analyse product profitability, operating costs, and financial trends.
- Provide practical recommendations on cost efficiency and working capital.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and wider financial planning activities.
- Help management understand the financial impact of operational decisions.
Budgeting and financial planning
The role will also contribute to the company’s planning process by:
- Supporting the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Monitoring actual performance against approved budgets.
- Investigating significant budget variances and explaining the underlying causes.
- Providing financial analysis to support management and strategic decisions.

Education and professional qualifications
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- ICAN, ACA, or ACCA qualification is preferred, although exceptional relevant experience may be considered.
Essential experience and skills
Candidates should have:
- At least 8 years of accounting experience.
- At least 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience in inventory accounting and stock reconciliation.
- Experience preparing monthly management accounts.
- A strong understanding of Nigerian tax regulations and statutory compliance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using accounting software, preferably with exposure to ERP systems.
Additional experience that would be an advantage
