Position Summary

The Project Architect will support eHealth Africa’s Laboratory Systems and Diagnostics portfolio by designing and overseeing public health infrastructure projects, including laboratories, medical supply hubs, surveillance facilities, and related healthcare buildings.

The consultant will ensure every project meets laboratory workflow requirements, biosafety standards, infection prevention protocols, national building regulations, and donor expectations while supporting projects from concept development through construction and final handover.

Key Responsibilities

The successful consultant will:

  • Develop architectural designs, technical drawings, specifications, and schedules for laboratory and healthcare infrastructure projects.
  • Produce professional 3D visualizations to support stakeholder engagement and design approvals.
  • Design efficient laboratory layouts that support safe movement of personnel, samples, and waste.
  • Integrate biosafety zoning and infection prevention and control (IPC) principles into facility designs.
  • Ensure architectural plans comply with Nigerian building regulations and international healthcare standards.
  • Apply World Health Organization (WHO) laboratory biosafety guidelines throughout project development.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, and identify design risks before project implementation.
  • Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing engineers to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions.
