Job Overview

The Sorting Hub Team Lead will supervise and coordinate sorting hub operators and senior operators to ensure the efficient handling and processing of incoming and outgoing shipments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for team performance, shipment scanning, sorting accuracy, operational productivity, safety compliance, and coordination with logistics, warehouse, network, customer service, and third-party logistics teams.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Supervision

• Supervise and lead sorting hub operators and senior operators.
• Assign daily responsibilities and prioritize workloads according to operational requirements.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and support to sorting hub employees.
• Train and mentor team members on operational procedures.
• Monitor individual and team performance and provide feedback.
• Promote teamwork, safety, and quality within the sorting hub.

Shipment Sorting and Processing

• Ensure efficient sorting, handling, and processing of incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Ensure shipments are scanned accurately at every stage of their journey.
• Maintain accurate shipment movement information within operational systems.
• Drive same-day shipping targets for Jumia Express shipments.
• Ensure strict compliance with shipment cut-off times.
• Conduct quality checks to minimize sorting and handling errors.

Logistics and 3PL Coordination

• Coordinate pickup cut-off times with third-party logistics providers and controlled fleet partners.
• Manage exceptions involving delayed, mismatched, or incorrectly processed shipments.
• Coordinate with Logistics, Warehouse, Network, and Customer Service teams.
• Facilitate smooth handover of shipments between operational teams.

Equipment and Operational Management

• Monitor sorting equipment and machinery.
• Identify equipment maintenance requirements.
• Coordinate repairs and help minimize operational downtime.
• Support the proper use of conveyors, scanners, and other sorting equipment.
• Ensure employees follow applicable safety procedures when operating equipment.

Reporting and Performance Monitoring

• Maintain accurate records of sorting activities.
• Monitor shipment volumes and processing times.
• Track inventory levels and operational performance.

Requirements
