Sustainability Analyst at Dangote
Dangote Group is recruiting for a Sustainability Analyst position in Lagos, Nigeria. The role focuses on monitoring, analysing, and forecasting environmental, social, governance (ESG), and climate performance across Dangote Cement Plc operations.
The successful candidate will support sustainability reporting, ESG data analysis, decarbonisation initiatives, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability performance improvement across the organisation.

Job Summary
The Sustainability Analyst will monitor and analyse ESG and climate performance at the corporate level, supporting Dangote Cement Plc’s sustainability objectives and providing detailed reports on sustainability KPIs.
The position involves working with corporate functions and plant operations to improve sustainability performance, analysing emerging ESG issues, supporting sustainability reporting, and coordinating decarbonisation initiatives.
The role also requires strong data analysis capabilities and familiarity with international sustainability reporting frameworks and ESG tools.
Key Responsibilities
Sustainability Performance Monitoring
- Work with different business functions and plant operations to implement sustainability performance goals and targets.
- Monitor and measure progress against sustainability objectives.
- Analyse ESG performance data and identify emerging sustainability issues.
- Work with operations and leadership teams to develop appropriate action plans.
- Provide decision-useful sustainability data and performance reports.
ESG Reporting
Support the preparation of sustainability reporting content in accordance with recognised frameworks and standards, including:
- IFRS Sustainability Standards (IFRS S1 and S2)
- Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
- United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)
- CDP
The role will also involve ensuring sustainability information is accurate, complete, and submitted within required timelines.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Plan and execute sustainability-related stakeholder engagements.
- Collect and analyse information relevant to environmental, social, and governance performance.
- Prepare reports containing sustainability KPIs and other decision-useful information.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve sustainability performance.
Decarbonisation and Climate Performance
- Coordinate the Dangote Cement Plc decarbonisation programme.
- Support training related to decarbonisation initiatives.
- Monitor adherence to reduction action plans.
- Work with plant decarbonisation working groups.
- Track actions designed to reduce the organisation’s environmental and climate impact.
ESG Data and Technology
- Use carbon accounting and ESG software and tools.
- Improve ESG data collection and analysis processes.
- Support data integrity and quality assurance.
- Ensure ESG information is submitted accurately and on time.
- Analyse sustainability data and prepare performance reports.
Sustainability Campaigns and Initiatives
- Manage the implementation of sustainability campaigns.
- Coordinate ESG initiatives and track measurable results.
- Support sustainability programmes across the organisation.
- Identify opportunities for continuous sustainability improvement.
Plant Sustainability Coordination
- Coordinate Sustainability Leads and sustainability champions across plants.
- Support capacity-building activities.
- Help plant teams achieve sustainability performance targets.
- Promote consistent implementation of sustainability practices across operations.
Sustainability Training
- Support the implementation of the organisation’s sustainability approach and policies.
- Coordinate internal sustainability training sessions.
- Participate in workshops and sustainability initiatives.
- Work with internal and external facilitators to strengthen sustainability knowledge across the organisation.
Qualifications
Education
Candidates should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- An advanced degree in a sustainability-related field is an advantage.
Professional Experience
Applicants should have:
- At least 5 years of proven experience in corporate sustainability.
- Experience working within a large organisation, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 3 years of experience in sustainability reporting using global reporting standards.
- At least 2 years of experience in GHG accounting.
Required Skills and Competencies
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong analytical and quantitative research skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Word.
- Strong data analysis and visualisation capabilities.
- Knowledge of ESG and sustainability reporting.
