About Zigma Limited
Zigma Limited operates in the petroleum and petrochemical sector and states that its mission is to build an integrated portfolio of assets and service offerings by working with partners and employees to deliver value to stakeholders.
The company is seeking a Planning & Reporting Engineer to support project controls for a WHP project following contract award and Final Investment Decision (FID).
The role sits at the intersection of project scheduling, progress measurement and reporting. It requires someone who can bring information from different contractors and project teams together, identify schedule risks and provide reliable forecasts to project leadership.
About the Planning & Reporting Engineer Role
The Planning & Reporting Engineer will support the Project Control Lead and Contract Engineer and, where required, the WHP Package Manager.
A major responsibility is maintaining the project’s integrated schedule and progress measurement system throughout the different stages of execution.
The successful candidate will monitor contractor performance against approved baselines, assess schedule risks and prepare planning information that helps project management make informed decisions.
The position also covers reporting during fabrication, installation and start-up, making accurate scheduling and progress information particularly important.
Key Responsibilities
The role will involve:
- Developing and maintaining procedures, tools and processes for project scheduling, progress control and reporting.
- Establishing and updating the project’s Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to support progress, cost control and reporting.
- Developing, updating and revising integrated project schedules.
- Preparing schedule analyses and simulations when requested by project management.
- Reviewing contractors’ scheduling and progress-control procedures.
- Monitoring contractor execution schedules.
- Reviewing and approving contractor progress measurements and reports.
- Coordinating detailed weekly and monthly project reports.
- Monitoring project risks that could affect cost or schedule.
- Reporting progress and significant areas of concern to the Project Control Manager.
- Working with relevant headquarters and project teams on planning innovations and tool implementation.
Project Reporting and Performance Monitoring
Reporting is a significant component of this position.
The engineer will prepare accurate weekly and monthly planning reports, dashboards, KPIs, S-curves, Minutes of Meeting (MoM) information and look-ahead schedules.
These reports need to be consistent, traceable and aligned with project reporting standards.
Applicants with experience turning complex project information into clear management reports should highlight this on their CV. The ability to identify trends and explain schedule performance can be just as important as knowing how to prepare a schedule.
Schedule Control and Contractor Monitoring
The position requires close attention to contractor schedules and reported progress.
The engineer will consolidate information from EPCC contractors, compare actual progress with approved baselines and identify areas where execution may be falling behind.
This includes identifying the critical path, monitoring schedule risks and helping project leadership understand the potential consequences of delays.
Experience reviewing contractor schedules and challenging or validating reported progress can therefore be particularly relevant.
Change, Risk and Claims Support
The role also contributes to project decision-making when circumstances change.
The engineer will perform schedule-impact assessments relating to:
- Project changes.
- Variations.
- Emerging risks.
- Recovery actions.
- Mitigation measures.
The position also includes maintaining the project’s contractual Issues Log, ensuring that the development and impact of issues can be traced over time.
Planning information may be used to support claims, dispute resolution and contractual positions, so accurate records and reliable schedule evidence are important.
Qualifications and Experience
The vacancy requires:
- 5–10 years of experience in a similar position.
- 5–10 years of experience in project planning, project controls and contract administration.
- A degree.
The source listing does not specify a particular degree discipline. Applicants should therefore present their relevant engineering, project-management, project-controls or related academic background accurately rather than assuming a specific degree is mandatory.
Experience within major engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning environments can be particularly relevant given the nature of the project described in the vacancy.
Skills That Matter for This Position
A strong candidate should be comfortable working with schedules, progress data, project reports and multiple project stakeholders.
Useful areas of experience include:
- Integrated project scheduling.
- Project controls.
- Progress measurement.
- Contractor schedule review.
- Baseline and variance analysis.
- Critical-path monitoring.
- Risk and schedule-impact analysis.
- Weekly and monthly reporting.
- KPI and dashboard preparation.
- Look-ahead schedules.
- S-curves and project performance monitoring.
- Change and variation analysis.
- Contract administration.
- Issues and claims documentation.
Strong communication is also important because the role requires interaction with project teams, contractors, management and other departments.
Working Across Project Teams
The position involves relationships with several internal departments and project entities.
The vacancy specifically refers to working with teams involved in areas such as strategy and planning, production, drilling and completion, engineering, projects and modifications.
The successful candidate therefore needs to be comfortable working across departmental boundaries and sharing accurate planning information with different stakeholders.
A collaborative approach is important, particularly when project information comes from multiple packages or contractors.

For this position, avoid submitting a CV that simply lists “project planning” as a skill. Show the recruiter the scale and type of planning work you have actually performed.

- Integrated schedule development and maintenance.
