Job Overview

The Representative – Sales and Trade Development will manage and develop trade infrastructure and Financial Services through channels of distribution, especially retailers, within the assigned territory. Reporting to the Manager – Sales and Trade Development, Cross Rivers, the role supports retail dominance, visibility and brand affinity through outlet coverage, product availability, trade partner support and market feedback.

The position sits within the Sales and Distribution division and requires regular engagement with dealers, sub-dealers, retailers and other channel participants across the territory.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm that sub-dealers and dealer branches are contacted and that stock receipt and movement are verified.
  • Provide informal training in shops on products, services and promotions run by marketing, channel or regional teams.
  • Provide on-the-spot training and coaching to all visited outlets in the territory, covering 100% of visited outlets in the call cycle.
  • Manage events and promotions, generate sub-dealer promotion specifications and conduct post-promotion evaluations.
  • Provide weekly and monthly sales activity reports and market intelligence reports to field service engineers.
  • Monitor and report on network quality and other sales-impacting indices within the territory.
  • Maintain a call cycle of 8 to 10 visits per day per territory, or as required by the business.
  • Identify, classify and support all players in the distribution channels, ensuring weekly and monthly database updates.
  • Ensure product availability in the channel remains above 95% and provide weekly product availability reports for visited outlets during call cycles.
  • Direct channel participants to identified growth areas within the territory.
  • Establish consistent channel standards, including branding, in line with channel recommendations.
  • Increase brand awareness through signage and point-of-sale distribution, targeting 65% visibility in the distribution channel as measured by the trade marketing team.
  • Support all identified outlets with 100% merchandising where appropriate and as defined.
  • Build relationships between lower and upper channel levels, including authorised distributors and sub-dealers.
  • Support trade partners and sub-dealers, link sub-dealers and retailers to trade partners, and help nurture these relationships.
  • Resolve issues and queries relating to activations, products and promotions.
  • Gather market information and provide feedback to management.

  • 1–3 years’ experience in an area of specialisation, including experience working with others.
  • Experience working in a medium-sized organisation.
