Responsibilities
- Take full accountability for cash collected, arrears, roll-rates, PAR/NPL, and recovery economics.
- Own outcomes and actively shape upstream inputs from Risk, Product, Customer Experience, and Technology to improve downstream collections performance.
- Design and execute collections strategies across short-term cash optimisation, mid-term recovery improvement, and long-term customer behaviour change.
- Build structured approaches to early- and late-stage collections, including segmentation-driven treatment strategies and behavioural and incentive-based interventions.
- Introduce clear experimentation frameworks using control-versus-test approaches and return-on-investment-driven rollouts.
- Use data to guide decisions and work closely with Risk and Data Science on roll-rate optimisation, behavioural analytics, treatment effectiveness, unit economics, and the return on investment of collections actions.
- Require transparent, decision-ready reporting with clear accountability.
- Build a high-calibre leadership bench within Collections, upgrade talent where required, and develop leaders rather than only agents.
- Create a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Influence Product, Risk, Technology, and Customer Experience, challenging design or policy decisions that harm recoveries.
- Represent collections as a respected and firm voice in senior leadership and ExCo forums.
- Improve collections outcomes without damaging long-term customer value, balancing firmness with fairness through smarter design.
- During the first 90 days, take ownership of collections performance and escalations, establish visibility on cash, arrears, roll-rates, and recovery drivers, identify high-impact structural blockers, develop a data-backed transformation roadmap with priorities and owners, and reset accountability standards and leadership expectations.
- Within the first six months, demonstrate measurable improvement in cash collected, late-stage roll-rates, cash-to-arrears ratios, and cash-to-instalment ratios; implement segmentation-driven treatment strategies at scale; reduce escalations and repeat failure points through system and process redesign; and strengthen the leadership bench with clear successors and upgraded capability.
