Position Summary
The M&E Officer will support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities with a particular emphasis on maintaining high-quality programme data. The successful candidate will work closely with state teams, Local Government Area (LGA) officers, and health facilities to improve data collection, validation, reporting, and overall data quality.
The role also involves supporting routine assessments, strengthening reporting systems, and ensuring that programme data remains accurate, complete, and timely.

Main Responsibilities
Successful applicants will be expected to:
- Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities across programme locations.
- Assist with routine data collection, verification, and reporting.
- Build the capacity of LGA and health facility M&E personnel on data quality management.
- Participate in monthly data validation meetings and provide technical support where required.
- Conduct routine data quality assessments in collaboration with LGA M&E teams.
- Support quarterly Data Quality Assessment (DQA) exercises across primary and secondary health facilities.
- Review monthly health facility reports to identify inconsistencies before submission.
- Document data quality issues and communicate findings to relevant teams for corrective action.
- Monitor implementation of follow-up plans to ensure identified issues are resolved within reporting timelines.
- Work with the MERL Manager to compile, analyse, and present programme data during review meetings when required.
- Represent the programme during technical monitoring and evaluation forums and committee meetings.
- Perform additional duties assigned by programme management.

Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another closely related discipline.
- At least four years of relevant professional experience in monitoring and evaluation or programme data management.
- Strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation systems within Nigeria or similar public health environments.
- Practical experience using data validation tools.
- Good working knowledge of DHIS2.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using statistical software such as Stata, SPSS, or R.
- Experience managing programme data while meeting reporting objectives.
- Sound understanding of health systems and data management challenges.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and report writing abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Good interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
Added Advantage
Candidates with a postgraduate qualification in Medical Statistics, Epidemiology, or another closely related field will have an added advantage during the selection process.
