About the AMCE Project
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) is a large-scale healthcare initiative developed in partnership with King’s College Hospital London and supported by Afreximbank.
Located in Abuja, the centre is being designed as a regional hub for specialist care in areas such as cardiology, oncology, and haematology. It will serve patients across Nigeria and neighbouring West African countries, with the long-term goal of expanding access to advanced medical services in the region.
PET imaging is a key part of the diagnostic services that will support this vision.
Role Overview
The PET Radiographer will be responsible for operating advanced Positron Emission Tomography (PET) equipment, producing high-quality diagnostic images, and supporting clinical teams in the detection and monitoring of complex medical conditions such as cancer, neurological disorders, and cardiovascular diseases.
The role requires close collaboration with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals, with a strong focus on patient safety, accuracy, and ethical clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Operate and maintain PET imaging equipment to ensure accurate and high-quality results.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals following strict radiation safety protocols.
- Position patients correctly for scans while ensuring comfort and safety.
- Monitor patient wellbeing during imaging procedures and respond to any emergencies.
- Work closely with radiologists and nuclear medicine specialists to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Maintain accurate patient records, scan data, and clinical documentation.
- Follow all radiation protection and safety procedures at all times.
- Participate in quality assurance processes to maintain imaging standards.
- Educate patients and families about the scanning process and required preparations.
- Contribute to continuous professional development and training activities.
Clinical Environment and Professional Expectations

Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or a related field.
- Active registration with the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in radiography.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in PET imaging.
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety procedures and imaging systems.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Desirable Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Radiography or related discipline.
- Professional certifications in relevant medical imaging fields.
- Experience in research, publications, or academic contributions.
- Membership in professional radiography or nuclear medicine associations.
