Job Overview
The ESG and Impact Manager will coordinate FairMoney’s environmental and social initiatives, support compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements, and help drive the company’s sustainability and ESG agenda. The role will work across business areas, operational levels, country HR teams, business leaders, associated business activities, subcontractors and relevant supply chains.
The successful candidate will provide guidance on sustainability programmes, ESG risks and opportunities, ESG due diligence, policy implementation and risk assessments. The role also includes monitoring progress towards ESG goals, preparing sustainability reporting and supporting the implementation of FairMoney’s Environmental & Social Management System.

FairMoney is building a mobile banking platform and point-of-sale solution for emerging markets. Its services include digital microcredit, current accounts, savings accounts, debit cards and point-of-sale solutions for merchants and agents. Responsibilities
Environmental and Social Coordination
- Coordinate environmental and social initiatives and compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
- Provide internal teams with guidance on sustainability programmes, ESG risks and opportunities, and ESG due diligence.
- Develop, implement and monitor a corporate-level Environmental & Social Management System across all business areas and operational levels.
- Coordinate with teams across the business to support adherence to the Environmental & Social Management System frameworks.
- Coordinate and work with HR teams and business leaders across all regions where FairMoney operates.
- Monitor performance against ESG goals and publish periodic reports on ESG and the impact created by FairMoney.
- Prepare FairMoney’s annual sustainability report.
Framework Adherence
- Support the sustainability and ESG agenda, objectives, goals and programmes by coordinating with different business units.
- Monitor the effectiveness of policies, processes, procedures and guides, and provide for their updating in line with changes in laws, regulations and corporate directives.
- Review corporate activities to ensure compliance with environmental and social policies, management plans and procedures.
- Guide and advise country HR teams on identifying and implementing local environmental and social laws and regulations, and monitor compliance.
- Support management in driving education, communication, training and implementation of ESG policies across the company’s operational areas.
- Support implementation of ESG policies across associated business activities, subcontractors and supply chains where relevant.
Risk Management
- Work with business regions to identify environmental and social compliance risks.
- Develop appropriate strategies to support compliance with ESG regulations.
- Address environmental and social risks and their potential impacts.
- Carry out environmental and social risk assessments with support from local country HR teams.
- Prepare, organise and maintain inspection records.
- Investigate complaints and suspected violations.
- Monitor follow-up actions where violations are identified.
- Review compliance monitoring reports.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field, such as Economics, Public Policy, International Politics or Business.
- At least 8 years of experience in the ESG domain.
- Experience working in, or demonstrated passion for, ESG compliance, social responsibility or sustainability issues.
- Experience working with development finance institutions.
- Good networking and stakeholder liaison skills, including the ability to work with shareholders and leadership.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work successfully in an ambiguous and fast-moving environment while meeting tight deadlines.
