Purpose of the Position

The Field Verification Officer will help PalmPay confirm the accuracy of information provided by merchants and loan applicants.

The officer will visit the stated business or residential locations, observe the activities taking place there and compare the findings with information submitted during the application process. Where inconsistencies or suspicious details are discovered, the officer will document and escalate them through the appropriate internal channel.

The role supports loan processing but does not give the officer authority to approve or reject applications unless PalmPay assigns that responsibility separately.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Conduct physical visits to merchant and customer locations.
  • Confirm that the stated business location exists and is operational.
  • Verify the authenticity of business activities and information supplied by applicants.
  • Observe relevant details carefully during field visits.
  • Document verification findings clearly and accurately.
  • Prepare and submit verification reports within the required timelines.
  • Support loan-processing activities by completing assigned verification work promptly.

  • Experience in field verification, loan recovery or direct sales.
  • Relevant experience gained in a fintech company or commercial bank.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong observation skills.
  • The ability to follow instructions and submit accurate reports.
  • A willingness to spend substantial time working in the field.

The source does not specify a required academic discipline. AfriJobSpace should therefore not limit the qualification to a particular course of study.

Location Requirement

Candidates must reside in one of the following locations:

  • Ukum, Benue State; or
  • Ore, Ondo State.

These are two separate duty-location options. They should not be presented as one combined location such as “Ukum, Ore, Benue, Ondo.”

Applicants should clearly state their current town and state in their CV or application. Candidates who do not live in either of the stated areas may not satisfy the employer’s location requirement.

Who May Be Well Suited to This Role

This position may suit someone who has previously worked as a field verification officer, recovery officer, direct-sales representative, credit officer or field agent within a bank or financial-technology company.

A suitable candidate should be able to visit unfamiliar locations, communicate respectfully with applicants and identify inconsistencies without being confrontational. The role also requires accurate record keeping because incomplete or misleading reports could affect lending decisions.

What to Highlight in Your Application

Applicants should make the following information easy to identify in their CV:

  • Their OND, HND or bachelor’s degree.
  • One to two years of relevant employment history.
  • Field verification, recovery or direct-sales responsibilities.
  • Experience working in a fintech company or commercial bank.
  • Types of customer or merchant visits previously conducted.
  • Experience preparing field, credit or verification reports.
  • Examples of discrepancies identified and escalated appropriately.
  • Their current residence in Ukum or Ore.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned territory.

Candidates should only include results and responsibilities they can explain during an interview.
